Second birth. About new Ukrainan Army. Independence 25
Sergeant Vitaliy Galchinsky, assault unit commander of 46th separate special forces battalion "Donbas-Ukraine", was named a headliner of this exhibition. He is a former Kiev entrepreneur that was a participant of Euromaidan and joined the army directly from there. Firstly he acted as a volunteer helping different army units and supplying drones. In 2015 Vitaliy was recruited by the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He finished his service term recently but is eager to come back to the frontline again. "We need to accomplish what we have begun" - he says.
His story somehow reflects destinies of many other Ukrainians that participate in reincarnation of the new Ukrainian army.
Oleksiy Bobrovnikov, senior lieutenant of Armed Forces of Ukraine, 31 years old
In my opinion, army reincarnation began from the attention of our society to the army. Almost all the time of Ukraine being independent the army was interesting only for a couple of enthusiasts groups, but from the beginning of 2014 all the society reminded such an important social institute. And from the early beginning there were notable changes for the better - modern equipment, renovation of armored vehicles etc.
Unfortunately i have not been making enough photos during the first stage of mobilization in order to show that, hovewer, the changes were seen by my own eyes. And everything began just from attention.
Yuri Lapaev, captain of Armed Forces of Ukraine, 31 years old
All changes began from the other attitude to the man in uniform. I recall that earlier we used to change the uniform to civvies when going out in order not to let people see us in the uniform. Now i do not take my uniform off. Now i am proud to wear it. Defending the motherland became very prestigious.

Katerina Zinchenko, Telecommunication Military Institute cadet, Kiev, 28 years old
Personally for me revival of Ukrainian army coincided with the beginning of my service in the armed forces. Joyfulness from the new studying systems that are currently introducing in the institute were mixed with sorrow for the officers-lecturers that will never come in to the classroom again.
Anti-terrorist operation (ATO) is an integral part of the history and reality of Ukrainian army - worries about father and uncle that just came back from the frontline. Worries about myself, feeling and realizing the fact that we are the first generation of military officers that are educated in the spirit of reformist innovations in the military studies and must live up to the expectations invested in us. It is a bit hard for me to describe what do our Armed forces mean for me as all my family belongs to the officers of Ukrainian army, therefore UAF means a real big family for me.
Ivan Pidgirnyy, Kiev, 29 years old
The picture captures the view of the soldier playing the bandura - a folk instrument owed from famous Ukrainian artist Taras Kompanichenko during his visit to the frontline for support of the army.

First volunteer battalions, that arisen to defend the motherland, victories and government support made reincarnation of Ukrainian army possible.

Andriy Kravchenko, Kiev, 29 years old
Revival of Ukrainian army definitely began with the first volunteers that started joining it in 2014. At that particular moment Ukrainians understood that nobody can defend their motherland except themselves.
Slavyansk, 2014.07.16, author Andriy Kravchenko
Oleg Chaplinsky, Senior lieutenant from Mykolaiv, ATO participant in 2015, was wounded in the battle for height "Bravo" near Marynivka
From my visit to military commissariat. I am strongly convinced that capable and successful army is determined first of all by high morale. All other is also important but secondary.
Olena Snisarevska, Mykolaiv, volunteer of Psychological anti-crisis service, 54 years
From the fact that all people began to help army, with introduction of the new rules, from old Ukrainian military traditions, from desire of our officers and soldiers to be victorious. We will prevail. Glory to Ukraine!
